Propeller: A Force for Social Innovation is now accepting applications for PitchNOLA: Living Well, a live business pitch competition hosted by Propeller and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana that will award a total $10,000 to entrepreneurial solutions to New Orleans’ public health crisis.

Applicants who apply online before 11:59pm CST on April 17th will receive feedback to help strengthen their application in advance of the final deadline on April 25th.

Overall, Louisiana is ranked 50th out of 50 states in terms of health, according to America’s Health Rankings. Propeller seeks small, concrete solutions with the potential for big impact in the health and wellness of underserved New Orleanians, as well as ideas for sustainable revenue streams, from utilizing health insurance reimbursements to selling a product or service.

Non-profits, for-profits, individuals, and organizations are invited to apply. For existing for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations with over $50,000 in 2015 revenues, the proposed idea must be a new idea that is not currently implemented. Proposed projects and team members may be located outside of Orleans Paris; however, the project’s primary beneficiaries must be Orleans Parish residents.

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend upcoming question and answer sessions on April 6 (5:00-6:00pm) or April 11 (4:30-5:30pm) at the Propeller Incubator, 4035 Washington Ave.

Propeller will select 10 semi-finalists on the basis of potential social impact, financial sustainability, and viability. They will pitch their solutions in front of a live panel of judges and 200+ audience members at the Propeller Incubator on May 25th. Tickets are free and open to the public at Eventbrite.
