6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Propeller Incubator: Large Conference Room
4035 Washington Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70125
Attendees will learn important fundamental information about copyrights, and how they manifest in the work that attendees do on a daily basis; you’ll also learn about situations in which there are copyright issues that warrant special attention and care (i.e. collaboration scenarios). Significantly, attendees will learn about licenses and assignments, two very important types of contracts in the area of copyright.
The objective is to give artists and musicians a solid understanding of what copyrights are, and how contracts can be used to protect and/or monetize them. Specific skills will include attendees’ understanding when their work is triggering legally important events, so that they know when a collaboration, commissioned project, etc., needs to be taken with a higher level of seriousness. It is not expected that attendees will receive an overwhelming amount of information, but enough to be able to identify important aspects of their business/property rights.
