Ahead of the bustling Mardi Gras season, Square, Cash App, and Visa have teamed up with local nonprofit Propeller for Feeding NOLA’s Future, a first-of-its-kind event designed to equip local businesses with the technology they need to succeed. Today at Propeller the event brought together 125 local food and beverage businesses to equip them with the learnings, resources, and support they need to grow their businesses.
“Preparing for major cultural events to take over your city can be exciting but a huge undertaking for restaurant operators, especially in combination with the already existing challenges of rising costs and consumer expectations,” said Ming-Tai Huh, Head of Food and Beverage at Square. “Our collaboration with our sister brand Cash App and with Visa underscores our collective commitment to supporting the small business community. Together, we are providing these local staples with the tools they need to prepare and succeed.”
For over a decade, Square has been a trusted partner for food and beverage businesses, helping them streamline operations and enhance the customer experience. Cash App, too, is committed to expanding financial access and equipping people and their businesses with the financial tools they need. Today and in partnership with Visa, Square and Cash App aim to further set these businesses up for success by offering free Square hardware to event attendees and helping them get onboarded quickly so that they never miss a sale. Visa, too, offered upgraded technology to businesses in attendance.
The Feeding NOLA’s Future initiative is more than just a one-time event – it is a catalyst for growth and innovation. At the kick-off event, small businesses had the opportunity to engage in personalized sessions with industry experts, including local football superstar and small business owner Cam Jordan, who provided valuable insights and resources tailored to their specific business needs. These sessions offered strategies for capitalizing on peak seasons like Mardi Gras, helping small business owners maximize their sales potential.
“Visa believes access to technology is critical for small businesses finding new avenues to grow,” said Kirk Stuart, Senior Vice President at Visa. “We are proud to work with Square and Cash App in bringing this initiative to New Orleans’ thriving restaurant community, which sits at the heart of the city’s legendary culture and heritage.”
This initiative is part of Square, Cash App, and Visa’s ongoing efforts to support the small business community and expand access to the tools businesses need. By tapping into their expertise and technology, they aim to help sellers navigate the ever-changing industry landscape and achieve long-term success. In addition to the event, Visa is providing a permanent fixture of resources by supplying computer equipment for small businesses to utilize at Propeller, the host site of the event and a nonprofit organization that helps entrepreneurs grow their nonprofits and small businesses in New Orleans.
