Propeller: A Force for Social Innovation is proud to announce “Propeller Pop 2014,” Propeller’s annual benefit and celebration of the 2013-2014 Social Venture Accelerator class of 15 Fellows.
Propeller Pop will take place from 7pm -10:30 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Propeller Social Innovation Incubator (4035 Washington Avenue). The event will include a showcase of the Accelerator Fellows’ impact and will include food from pop-up chefs, drinks and cocktails from pop-up bars, pop-themed activities, silent auction, and entertainment. Proceeds go towards supporting the 2014-2015 Accelerator and alumni programming.
The 2013-2014 Fellows are exciting early-stage companies tackling issues in public health, food access, education, blight reduction, economic development and the arts. Startup successes include a public interest law group that has generated over $200,000 in social security benefits for low-income, disabled children to receive services for asthma and mental health and a public education design studio that has garnered national contracts for blended learning and teacher problem-solving. The 10-month Accelerator program takes early-stage ventures, both non- and for-profits, and pairs them with professional consultants, pro bono technical assistance, office space, peer learning and access to networks to become financially viable and to create significant impact for underserved communities. The 2012-2013 Accelerator featured 12 startup ventures, which generated $3.2mm in incremental revenue and 32 jobs during the 10-month program.
Tickets to Propeller Pop are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. “Top Pop Hour” tickets for sponsors are 6pm - 7pm, which includes early entry and premium food and beverages. Tickets can be purchased online at www.propellerpop2014.eventbrite.com.
