NEW ORLEANS, LA (Feb. 25, 2015) – Propeller: A Force for Social Innovation is now accepting applications for PitchNOLA: Living Well, a live business pitch that will award $10,000 in total start-up funding for entrepreneurial solutions that will get New Orleanians healthier, more active and better nourished.
Applicants who submit their applications before 11:59pm CST on March 1, 2015 will receive feedback to help strengthen their application in advance of the final deadline on March 10, 2015 (11:59pm CST). Applications can be found online here.
Propeller is looking for all viable solutions that promote health for underserved New Orleanians, with a focus on financially sustainable ideas that tackle inefficiencies, opportunities, and bottlenecks in six main areas: nutritious, affordable and easy-to-access food, health conditions, physical activity, service delivery coordination, maternal & child health, and access to health insurance.
Non-profits, for profits, individuals, and organizations are invited to apply. For individuals and teams, with or without an incorporated business under $50,000 in 2014 revenues, the proposed idea can be in the idea or implementation phase. For existing for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations with over $50,000 in 2014 revenues, the proposed idea must be a new idea that is not currently implemented. Proposed projects, individuals, and teams may be located outside of Orleans Parish; however the project’s primary beneficiaries must be Orleans Parish residents.
Semi-finalists will be selected based on their potential for health impact, financial sustainability, and viability. They will pitch their solutions in front of a live panel of judges and 200+ audience members at the Propeller Incubator on April 21, 2015.
