Gradient is an online platform for writing and tracking high quality goals for students with disabilities. In addition to supporting strong goal writing, the program allows school administrators to evaluate the programmatic success of special education and intervention programs.
Brandie Burris & Alex Gallagher
Brandie Burris is co-founder and CEO of Gradient. She began teaching second-grade in 2009 with Teach for America. Until recently, Brandie worked for the Louisiana Department of Education where she helped develop the statewide teacher evaluation system and create a charter school accountability framework focused on student outcomes. Brandie currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Young Leadership Council. She believes ensuring the most dignified outcome for all students is critical to our city and nation’s success.
Alex Gallagher is the co-founder of Gradient. Gallagher also works as the intervention services coordinator at D. T. Aaron Academy. He started teaching through Teach for America in 2009 in a self-contained special education class for students with mild to moderate disabilities. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is pursuing a master’s in school leadership from Columbia University-Teacher’s College. He hopes to push special education and intervention services by creating systems and practices that promote greater access to quality instruction and increased achievement for all students.
