There is a surprising but profound similarity between Jim Letten, Vice Media, and Uber.  In case you don’t know, Jim Letten was a Prosecutor and Vice is a new-ish counter-culture media company.  Obviously, we are selling them both short.  Jim Letten was not just a Prosecutor, he was a U.S. Attorney, appointed by the president, who helped make great strides in combatting corruption and violent crime in New Orleans.  And Vice is not just a magazine.  While they did start out as an offbeat publication, they are now one of the most respected names in Arts, Culture, and Investigative Journalism. And Uber is the fastest growing ride sharing platform on the planet.

So, what’s the connection?  All have gone against the grain and made significant social change in doing so.  They both did the work no one else wanted to, or was able to.  As entrepreneurs, artists, and simply champions of New Orleans, we can all learn a lot from these speakers.

This panel will include Jim Letten and Matt Schoen, Global Executive Design Director of Vice Media, and Tom Hayes of Uber. Panel will be moderated by Peter Ricchiuti, Director of Research at Tulane University, and host of Out to Lunch on WWNO.
